I am fascinated with the body, and the way we express ourselves, our emotions and our history through physical form and movement. I work with my students and clients to find freedom, comfort and peace in their body. I believe that your body has innate intelligence, and that change is possible on many levels.
In 2007, I completed training at the Brian Utting School of Massage and became a licensed massage therapist. I have received additional training and certification in Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, and Neuromuscular Therapy. My work combes specific deep tissue and therapeutic work with a holistic approach that soothes and reorders patterns of tension in the nervous system.
I have been studying yoga since 1998, and teaching yoga since 2004. I completed my teacher training at Pacific Yoga, and continued training in the Anusara tradition with Denise Benitez. I currently am studying with Portland teacher Sarahjoy Marsh, and am a devoted student of Insight Meditation. I also draw inspiration from modern and partner dance.
About my work
I work with both bodywork and yoga therapy – you may choose either or both. This means we can work in a variety of ways, using active movement, manual therapy, breathwork and dialogue. My approach can be gentle and soothing, deep and specific, and profoundly relaxing and insightful.
I specialize in helping people with:
- Chronic pain, tension or stress
- Neck, head or jaw pain
- Brain injury and concussion
- Anxiety, depression, grief
- Back pain
- Joint pain or injury
- Scoliosis and structural pain
